K-12 STEM Outreach
The Krishna Group is committed to K-12 hands-on STEM outreach to provide fun, engaging STEM experiences, making STEM career pathways more accessible and broadening participation in STEM and chemical engineering. The Group has participated in numerous hands-on STEM outreach activities sponsored by the CBE department and the UW Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) at UW’s Engineering Expo (2022, 2023, 2024). In Summer 2024, The Krishna Group hosted an NSF Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) participant (Alec Seco, teacher at Sherman Middle School in Madison, WI) to develop educational activities for middle schoolers studying the chemistry of H2O2 decomposition. In October 2024, the Krishna Group visited Sherman Middle School and facilitated activities for ~120 middle school students to help them develop interest and self-efficacy in STEM.
